A Slice of Heaven

Many of us live within a reasonable distance to Wegmans so I won’t spend any time explaining why Wegmans is great. Some people I know, namely my family members, say about Wegmans that it’s too expensive and doesn’t compare to the low prices of other grocery stores like Shop Rite or the Marketplace at Walmart. In some instances, they are absolutely correct, but sometimes it’s not just about price. Simply said, Wegmans has things that the other places do not. For example, chocolate cake from Entenmann’s is okay for what it is, boxed factory made cake. Entenmann’s reminds me of when I was a kid and my mom had guests for coffee and cake. The cake was always an Entenmann’s cheese ring or crumb coffee cake. Most of the cakes at Shop-Rite look like they have been mass produced with no care or flair or flavor. Although, as a side note, Shop-Rite birthday cakes like quarter or half sheet cakes are pretty darn good and are worth checking out. Outside of that, in my experience, only Wegmans offers a cake like their Wegmans Ultimate Chocolate Cake.

I don’t know if the cakes are made within each store’s bakery or if they are shipped in or what, but the Ultimate Chocolate Cake (UCC) is better than even S.E.X. Wegmans sells two sizes, the regular size which I think runs about $20 and then there is the mini UCC. You know, from all of the posts on WeEatAllot.com, we celebrate a lot of birthdays and we are always looking to stick our candles into a good cake. The mini cake can be cut in to six decent size pieces and each piece is enough for your eyes to roll to the back of your head. Moist, not too sweet with rich creamy chocolate icing describes what the cake is all about. What a treat. This is one of those cakes where I would insist on eating dessert first and then eating the other parts of the meal afterwards, if I had room. By the way, Wegmans also offers a vanilla version, the ultimate white cake. It’s good too, but it’s just not the same as the UCC.

We Eat A Lot rating 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊. Oh, I guess I meant five smiles, 😊😊😊😊😊.
